ARC Starts 09-10 Season In Strong Form!

The Adelaide Rowing Club has had a fine start to its 2009-10 Rowing SA Premiership campaigns, with strong performances at the opening 2 regattas of the season.

The Henley on Torrens regatta was held on the 350m Kate Slatter sprint regatta course on Torrens Lake on Saturday 24th October. This regatta saw the Club pick up  6wins, including a clean sweep of all 4 1st Grade Men's events offered (1x, 4+, 4x+ & 8+). Other wins were seen in the 1st and 3rd Grade Women's Coxed Quads, and the 1st grade Women's Eight had a strong race to place 2nd.

The Scotch College regatta was contested at West Lakes on Saturday 31st of October, with the new regatta course being used for the first time for racing. Again, another very successful day for the Adelaide Rowing Club with wins in both the 1st and 2nd Grade Men's Eights, 2nd Grade Men's Scull, 3rd Grade Men's Coxed Four and 3rd Grade Women's Coxed Quad.

After these 2 regattas, the Club has a 4-way tie for the CAM West Shield between the defending co-winners Jarrad Schar and Tom Hodkinson, as well as Andrew Jackson and Max Tonkin. A further 19 ARC rowers have registered their first points for the season by being part of a winning crew. To date, the Club has won 8 points in the RowingSA Senior Men's Premiership, and 3 points in the Senior Women's Premiership.
