RowingSA News - Conduct of Time Trials

Due to the increase in competitors entering into the official SASI Time Trials it has been requested by SASI that Rowing SA take over the responsibility of running the Time Trials in conjunction with SASI. With the large number of entries Rowing SA/SASI are required to implement a Risk Management Plan to ensure the safety of all athletes. It has also now been determined through Rowing Australia that all rowers/coaches need to be included on our data base to ensure they are covered by injury/personal accident insurance.

Entries for the Time Trial are required to be entered through ROMS. SASI will still coordinate the Starting Order, issue the bow numbers and manage the Time Recording. Rowing SA will be providing BRO/Marshals and Safety Boats during the event. Rowing SA will be offering an honorary payment to the BRO/Marshals to encourage participation in these roles. To cover these costs there will be a minimum entry fee. Rowing SA does not want these events to be an income revenue stream but merely to cover the costs.

An ‘A-Frame’ sign will be placed on the Finishing Pontoon to advise people that the Time Trial is in progress. A circular will also be placed on the Notice Board (next to the circulation map on the Umpires Boat Shed external wall) advising of the Time Trial dates and times.

The following changes will be implemented at the next Time Trial on 31 July -

  • Entries to be done through ROMS
  • SASI have requested that Club Uniforms be worn to assist with identification of the rowers.
  • There will be a $5.00 seat/entry fee which will cover the cost of an honorary payment to the BRO/Marshals as a contribution for their voluntary service.
