President's TED Talk
Even with the Torrens shut for the second time in month, there's so much happening around ARC at the moment that it feels hard to keep up with all the news, so I'll keep this one brief and focus just on the two big-ticket items!
It's Nationals week - the 2026 Australian Rowing Championships started today at Lake Barrington, with the Interstate Regatta rounding things out on Sunday.
Good luck to everyone who is racing, officiating, volutneering or coaching - we can't wait to see what you can do on the national stage, and no matter what happens, we're proud of you!
For the travelling ARC family and supporters, please keep the updates and photos of ARC in action flowing from the course and through to our socials!
For those at home, there are plenty of ways to stay connected to the action (provided the power at the course stays on). Details later in this Update!
Closer to home, we've made a start on painting the ceiling at the Torrens Boatshed, with a huge effort on Sunday doing all the prep work and putting 80% of the undercoat up!
Some images of progress below show the difference already - or better still, come down this Thursday & see it for yourself in the flesh (and put a few licks up while you're there!)
We've still got heaps to do with another 2 coats needed on an area that's over 200 sqm, so if you can help out for a few hours, please get in touch with me!
There will be legends getting after it throughout this week - you can join in with them, or feel free to knock a bit out in your own time!
Thursday 26th (9am to 9pm)
Saturday 28th
Sunday 29th
Oh, and one more thing, sorry.
Tickets for the ARC Annual Dinner on Saturday 9th May will go on sale later this week via the ARC website - watch out on our socials and your inbox for the link!
Let's keep getting after it ARC!
Mitch

Be Safe, Be Seen - Get Your Lights On!
It's getting dark in the early mornings, and soon evenings will also start to shorten - it's essential that all boats are clearly visible on the water in low-light/low-visibility conditions.
Boat lights must be visible from 360 degrees at a distance of 1km
It is the crew's responsibility to provide their own lights.
Strictly, no lights = no rowing!
At West Lakes:
Lights must be used when the red light on the judge's tower is on.
No rowing before 6am Mon - Sat, or before 7am Sundays & public holidays.
As a Senior Club, ARC always want to be leading from the front and setting a good example for the rest of the rowing community. To facilitate, the Committee has agreed to stock safety lights for ARC Member's to purchase, via the ARC website.
By purchasing in bulk, we hope this will keep the costs as low as possible for members.
Each ARC boat will be fitted with dual-lock mounting points on the bow and stern canvas to attach these lights.
Reminder to Lock Up
We've had 3 instances over the past 6 weeks of our sheds being left wide open over-night - twice at West Lakes, once at the Torrens.
If you are the last person to leave the shed, it's your responsibility to do a quick sweep to make sure the shed is secured with doors locked and latched before you head off!
