Success in the West at Australian Master's
ARC was superbly represented at the recent 2026 Australian Masters Rowing Championships, held at Champion Lakes, WA, with Mieka Webb, Jess Lobban and Andrew Tidemann delivering an outstanding regatta across a wide range of events, age categories and composite crews.
A highlight was the dominant performance by the SA Master's Women's Eight in the Interstate race, claiming their 4th win in 4 years. The crew, featuring Mieka in bow and Jess as cox, jumped the field with a half-length lead after first dozen strokes and never looked back with a winning margin of almost 8 seconds over the 1000m race distance. Congratulations to Mieka, Jess and co-Coaches, Daren Potts & Bernie Le Riche.

President's TED Talk
What a week for ARC - not just in Adelaide, but across the world!
On Sunday night, my eyes were glued to the World Cup action from Seville. I was so proud to watch the Women's Eight race unfold with the brilliant execution and tenacity of the Aussie crew, featuring Ella in the 4 seat. Out of the blocks, it was clear that they were racing with intent to win, and with each stroke, it was apparent that something special was in store. Such a great start to the 2026 international campaign - I can't wait to see Ella and all the Rowsellas racing again in Lucerne at World Cup III in ~3 & 1/2 weeks time!
Closer to home (but still not all that close) - we saw ARC members feature on the far side of the Nullarbor, as part of another fantastic SA victory in the Women's Interstate Race at the Australian Masters's Rowing Champs. This victory made it 4 in a row for SA with Pottsy being involved in all 4 victories as Coach. This year, Daren was joined by co-Coach Bernie, as well as Mieka in the bow seat and Jess pulling the strings. A very well prepared crew - well done to all!
Sunday morning saw the start of the 2026 ARC Winter Programme across both boatsheds - I haven't seen either shed look so empty with so many boats out on the water at the same time! Between West Lakes & Torrens, we put nearly 70 junior athletes out on the water with 5 eights, 3 coxed quads, small boats! Many thanks to all who have contributed behind the scenes to getting to this point - coaches, boat maintenance, transport, sourcing equipment, admin, promotions and so on - truly a combined team effort!
June is shaping up to be another big month for ARC with
The Wharf to Woolshed Long Row (20 June)
Hilly and Daws racing at the historic Holland Beker regatta (20-21 June)
World Cup III at Lucerne (26 - 28 June) - with Ella, Alex, Angus, Oscar & Sam racing for Australia
Three Crows Central events, including a Showdown.
The ongoing Winter Programme - check out the training schedule to avoid the busy times at the shed!
Great to see crews still hitting the water as part of Thursday Night Socials including several of our recent LTR graduates! A heads up that tomorrow night coincides with Crows Central function.
Membership renewals are just around the corner and will open shortly, as soon as we know the RSA fees for next season - please help us out by renewing promptly once the system opens. If you have any queries, please get in touch with Rhiannon via membership@adelaiderowingclub.com.au.
It's been a great week - let's keep getting after it ARC!

Rowing SA News
Rowing SA Awards Breakfast - Sunday 28th June at Jarmer's Kitchen. Tickets are $50 pp and can be booked here: 2026 Rowing SA Awards Breakfast Tickets
Works are planned this week to construct a new concrete ramp between the grassed area of the upper sheds and the car park (near the Pembroke bay). This will likely impact ARC boat movements - may need to boat via the Northern lawns & beach.
Advanced notice that Council are planning dredging works at the West Lakes Inlet in July (behind the 2000m start) - details & timing to follow.
Torrens Active Membership - it's in the name...
A reminder to Torrens Active members that use of boats at West Lakes is not included within your membership fee.
If you wish to upgrade your membership to make use of these boats, please contact membership@adelaiderowingclub.com.au.
To maintain a fair & equitable environment, invoices will be issued for sustained and repeated breaches.
Boatshed Housekeeping
A clean, tidy shed sets the tone for everything we do—when our space looks good, we feel good, and that attitude flows into how we row, support each other, and represent the Club. It also creates appeal for people who are walking into our shed for the first time, because first impressions really do count...
We're putting some of the big pieces in place to make this easier with new rigger racks, new storage cabinets, new hose reels, fresh signage etc. But we need you to do your bit too.
Keeping our sheds tidy costs us nothing but a bit of intent: a minute to rinse a boat thoroughly, stack oars correctly, keep bags out of walkways, or simply putting things back where they belong.
Those small actions add up quickly and become infectious, creating a standard that becomes normal.
ARC is a Child Safe Club
With the increased presence of young people around our sheds for the Winter Programme, we remind all Members of the need to maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for children and young people.
Keep things respectful — consider who might be watching or in listening range and act accordingly.
Avoid one-on-one interactions with junior participants in private areas. Keep interactions in open, public areas, and with two adults present.
No photo or video recording in the change rooms at any time.
Do not use change rooms while young people are using them - provide privacy and wait outside until they are finished before entering.
You might notice some new signage on the Torrens change room doors to help highlight these requirements.
Please refer to our Child Safe Environment Policy or contact Mitch Oliver (Child Safety Officer) for further details.
Overdue Regatta Invoices
Outstanding race fee invoices from SA State Champs, NSW State Champs & Nationals regattas total nearly $3,000.
If you raced at these regattas, please check your email (spam folder?) to make sure you have nothing owing to ARC. Multiple reminders have already been sent...
If unsure, please reach out to a Committee Member to check.
Members with overdue invoices will see equipment usage privileges suspended from 31 May.
